Recycling of Construction and Demolition Waste in the Gulf Cooperation Essay

Reusing of Construction and Demolition Waste in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Countries - Essay Example It is assessed that 55 percent of this absolute waste originates from development and destruction, 20 percent from metropolitan waste, 18 percent from mechanical waste, and 7 percent from unsafe waste. The quick improvement in the area, populace development, modern expansion and development exercises joined have driven forecasters to anticipate that the Middle East will put billions of dollars in squander the executives part throughout the following scarcely any years (Summit to concentrate on squander control). Fundamentally, there are two sorts of development squanders. The first is clearly caused because of some development work attempted at better places now and again as economies improve. The subsequent development squander happens when there is enormous scope urbanization of areas when alongside private structures there are development of framework, for example, streets, spans, transport terminals, railroad stations, emergency clinics, sports arenas and even air terminals. Development squander for a huge scope, if not oversaw appropriately, can end up being an aggravation and challenge to the earth. Residue poisons, clamor, asthmatic assaults, and a great many hills of waste material dab the scene in this situation. It is basic that these squanders are promptly trucked away and arranged with the goal that they leave space for new squanders until the total development has occurred. It is important to oversee development squander gainfully with the goal that it isn't hindering to condition and makes extra income (Government to handle destruction squander). A blasting economy normally increases living expectations and styles. It realizes an ocean change in the scene. Spots where there were dry and bone-dry land, towns and urban areas containing stylish structures and enterprises emerge. There are office and private structures, fancy shopping centers, streets, spans, schools, spots of diversion, sports arenas, emergency clinics, railroad stations, and air terminals. History Of Asian Economies Essays - Economy Of South Korea

History Of Asian Economies Korea was perhaps the most unfortunate nation in world subsequent to encountering two wars. World War II and Korean war (1950 ~ 1953). The nation even encountered a food deficiency with the goal that it needed to vigorously depend on the outside guide. Yearly per capita utilization was a simple $88 as late as 1965. Be that as it may, since 1965, Korea has been changed from its immature farming economy to a main Newly Industrializing Country. Somewhere in the range of 1965 and 1981, its gross national item GNP increased multiple times from $3 billion to $63 billion and per capita GNP expanded multiple times from $88 to $1,554. There have been numerous clarifications for Korea's effective story. Among those, the solid job of government would be presumably the most significant one. Simultaneously, this would be moreover liable for current downturn. After Koran war, the legislature in actuality had no ability to read a compass and furthermore because of the precarious political circumstance, the nation didn't have explicit monetary strategy until 1961 when military government came to control and set up the significant establishment directing its financial arranging called Economic Planing Board (EPB). This administration set monetary advancement as the top national need and perceived the budgetary framework on the side of monetary improvement plan. To accomplish this reason, it concentrated its approaches fundamentally on trade development moving its accentuation from import replacement. The outcome was considered very effective for financial development. Somewhere in the range of 1965 and 1973, sends out developed at normal yearly pace of 45%, from $175 million to $3,271 million. The accomplishment of the development was expected essential to three factors (Kwack, 72). The first was a good global financial condition, which saw all out world imports extend from $175 billion of every 1965 to $536 billion by 1973. This blast in imports of the world mirrored the way that the industrialized had not yet raised import boundaries against sends out from creating nations and were, despite what might be expected, very dynamic shippers of less expensive products from Newly Industrializing Countries, for example, Korea. A second critical factor was the Korean government's approach of advancing fares, which was gotten under way in 1965. At first, the administration presented a number of monetary and budgetary impetuses, which I will talk about increasingly later. A third factor was Korea's bounteous and profoundly profitable work power. This gave Korea a solid near preferred position in creating work concentrated items and given the catalyst to the remarkable extension for sends out. So as to extend all out fares after some time periods, be that as it may, Korea went to new fare ventures that were relied upon to have a similar bit of leeway with inexhaustible work, yet gifted work right now, for example, shipbuilding, gadgets, and steel businesses. This endeavor was seen as an assembling moving of its accentuation from light businesses to substantial ventures which later began to deliver mediator products alternative for imports (Kwack, 77). In any case, this government's advancement of overwhelming enterprises for huge scope economies prompted under-interest in light assembling businesses causing gainful hole among little and huge firms. As a matter of fact, the huge firm that runs overwhelming ventures has been given needs, and little and medium firms generally ignored in government's designation of loanable assets and other managerial inclination. Accordingly, combinations later known as chaebol (family possessed aggregate) have been framed through this development of substantial ventures. Government's Policy Before 1961 As observed over, the Korean government has been centered around import replacement for financial development during 1953 ~ 65 period and followed by send out extension arrangement after 1965. In any case, to progress its approach effectively, the administration needed to face to one of genuine issue, destitution. After two significant wars, the nation even with a food deficiency experienced absence of capital. There was no hotspot for reserve funds and venture to money financial development locally, so it relied intensely upon remote capital which inflow in a type of for the most part help and advance in the beginning time of financial development. The extent of outside money to add up to capital development in 1965 was around 40 percent. Notwithstanding inflow of remote capital, the government confronted designation of capital with utilizing its monetary framework. Previously the military government in 1961, the credit choices of business banks were vigorously affected by political obstruction (Haggard, 26). All things considered, in truth the credit choices in Korea generally were influenced by political obstruction rather than bank themselves until ongoing time, however during the 1948 ~ 1961 period, the lease created by low loan fee was utilized for its political exercises rather than monetary development. Government's Export Promotion Policies In the monetary improvement, the administration's formation of monetary lease for specific portions of business takes basic job.

Social and Economic Equality of African Americans in America Essay

Social and Economic Equality of African Americans in America The battle for social and monetary fairness of Black individuals in America has been long and moderate. It is here and there stunning that any advancement has been made in the racial correspondence field by any stretch of the imagination; each speculative advance forward is by all accounts weakened by misfortunes somewhere else. For each Stacey Koons that is indicted, there is by all accounts a Texaco official standing by to send Blacks back to the past. All through the battle for equivalent rights, there have been gallant Black pioneers at the front line of each discrete development. From early activists, for example, Frederick Douglass, Booker T. Washington, and W.E.B. DuBois, to 1960s social liberties pioneers and radicals, for example, Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, and the Black Panthers, the advancement that has been made toward full uniformity has come about because of the visionary administration of these courageous people. This doesn't infer, in any case, that there has at any point been across the board understanding inside the Black people group on system or that the activities of unmistakable Black pioneers have met with solid help from the individuals who might profit by these activities. This report will look at the impact of two early period Black activists: Booker T. Washington and W.E.B. DuBois. Through an examination of the ideological contrasts between these two men, the essayist will contend that, in spite of the fact that they differ over the course of the battle for equity, the contrasts between these two men really improved the status of Black Americans in the battle for racial fairness. We will take a gander at the occasions prompting and encompassing the Atlanta Compromise in 1895. So as to comprehend the distinctions in the ways of thinking of Washington and Dubois, it is valuable to know something about their experiences. Booker T. Washington, brought into the world a slave in 1856 in Franklin County, Virginia, could be portrayed as a realist. He was just ready to go to class three months out of the year, with the staying nine months spent working in coal mineshafts. He built up Blacks turning out to be gifted tradesmen as a valuable venturing stone toward regard by the white lion's share and inevitable full fairness. Washington worked his way through Hampton Institute and helped found the Tuskeegee Institute, an exchange school for blacks. His fundamental methodology for the headway of American Blacks was for them to accomplish enha... ...ecame more standard, it turned out to be progressively moderate, and this didn't please DuBois, who left the association in 1934. He returned later however was in the long run disregarded by Black initiative both inside and outside of the NAACP, particularly after he voiced deference for the USSR. In the political atmosphere of the late 1940s and 1950s, any trace of a star socialist demeanor - dark or white- - was unwanted in any gathering with a national political plan. We can see, at that point, that nor Washington's system of settlement nor DuBois' arrangement for a tip top Black scholarly people was to turn out to be entirely fruitful in hoisting American Blacks to a place of correspondence. Nonetheless, maybe it was more than the initiative of any one Black man that urged African Americans to request a full proportion of social and monetary uniformity. Maybe the way that there was an open exchange in itself accomplished more to energize Black uniformity than the way of thinking of any one noticeable Black man. All things considered, ideas, for example, balance are actually that: ideas. All things considered, it up to every one of us to choose how we see ourselves according to other people; predominant or sub-par, equivalent or not equivalent, the decision is eventually ou r own.

Tutor Spotlight Meet Jon, American Historian!

This week, we're spotlighting Jon, one of our American historians! Since starring as â€Å"Congressional Delegate #4† in his high school’s production of 1776, Jon has been passionate about all things American history. After hiding in the library for four years to avoid Montreal winters, Jon graduated with a First-Class Honors Degree in History from McGill University. His research won two undergraduate awards and he received an additional prize for having the highest GPA of graduating History Department students. He is now a Ph.D. Candidate in the Corcoran Department of History at the University of Virginia and a Visiting Fellow in the History Department at Harvard University where is a writing a dissertation on the history of American state lotteries. Let's get started with the basics, Jon. Where are you from? In Providence, Rhode Island, and then Newton, Massachusetts. Imagine a cliched New England suburb come to life--that was us. What did you decide to study, and why? American history! I got my first real taste of the subject in eighth grade, and it really clicked for me, and then I was probably the only person who liked studying for the AP US History test in high school. I went to college in Canada, so it was a bit against-the-grain to study American history, which let me feel super cool for no reason. What are you up to now? How did you decide to pursue this? I'm finishing my PhD in history at UVA! My dad is an academic so I always had a good picture of what this life would be like. Even though I stumbled into my dissertation topic (American state lotteries), I love what I'm researching--and not just when the Mega Millions jackpot hits $1 billion. What do you imagine your life will look like in 5-10 years? Hopefully very similar to how it looks now! Not that I'll still be in grad school, but that I'll be doing original research, using my writing/editing skills, and diving into important questions about American history that show how we can improve our future. What’s a lesson you’ve learned from teaching? I've learned a lot about the writing process from teaching. It's shown me how to assemble an argument piece by piece; looking at other peoples' writing has done wonders for my own. Given the choice of anyone in the world, living or dead, which 3 people would you invite to your dinner party? What do you imagine you'd talk about? Can I pick Bruce Springsteen three times? What daily routines or habits are most important for you to do your work? I try to make lists of every part of every task. My to do list is very specific--not "work on chapter 4" but more detailed instructions, to work on this specific paragraph, or fix that specific quote. It helps me feel more accomplished and keeps me focused. Describe your perfect weekend morning. Pretty simple: playing 3 hour German board games with my high school friends. I'm lucky enough that we get to do this all the time. What’s the best gift you’ve ever received or given? My girlfriend just got my a Nutribullet for my birthday. It really is a game changer. Share 1 weird fact with us about yourself. I was the captain of my college Quidditch team. What is your definition of success? Being able to feel like I've accomplished something, that I've done good work. Who is one person that has deeply shaped the way you think or behave? My adviser--she's always pushing me to ask (and then answer) big questions and to write in a way that is accessible for non-academic audiences. What’s something that has inspired you recently? All the volunteers on the ground helping get out the vote for the midterm elections What advice would you give your 20 year old self? Take more statistics classes. How do you stay focused and motivated? Jewish guilt. There's nothing like it to get you out of bed in the morning. If you were to recommend one book, what would it be, and why? I just reread John Kennedy Toole's "A Confederacy of Dunces" for the first time since I was 17. An amazing, hilarious book. The Motivation Of Employees Are Only Motivated By Money

Employees are only motivated by money Critically evaluate the theories of motivation in relation to this statement. Motivation is a hugely important aspect in the lives of working people, generally. It gives people the will to keep going, and at the same time, allows them to work towards something, and have something to aim for. Whilst money is a well received incentive to help keep employees on task, it is often thought of as the only motivator. Employees react well to a number of motivational incentives, with money being only one of them. Money plays an important role in our society and always has. It therefore acts as a very powerful tool to keep employees - and people generally - motivated at work. It is thought of as an aspiration by many young people, something to be achieved; to be rich or, at least to be comfortable in their future finances. There is also an underlying theme amongst young people wanting to be self dependant, not dependant on their parents for money. This, again, leads to the dream of having money in order to be self sufficient, with this idea motivating them to be more committed in school and other aspects of life. The fact that money is such a huge part of the society we live in, may be the reason for these contributing factors towards motivation. However, the statement Employees are only motivated by money can be debated, with many theories and studies to contradict the idea that money is the only motivator for employees. In Addition to that, Sri Lanka has started exploration of oil and gas in Gulf of Mannar Basin as another strategy of fuel diversification. The Abandoned Colony by Karen Ordahl Kupperman - 914 Words

Thesis: The Roanoke colony proved to be an unsuccessful venture in the New World for England, since leaders of the expedition held the viewpoint that privateering would prove to be the most profitable aspect of founding the new settlements in the West. However future, still unsuccessful attempts to make a permanent colony at Roanoke, helped England understand how to build a prosperous one; and it became a building block for establishing future colonies for England and helped shape the ideas that would help launch their empire. Summary: This book starts well before Roanoke was founded. It detailed how, at the time, England was not a superpower. Spain and France were the most dominant of the European countries, but internal conflicts in†¦show more content†¦They had a strange relationship, since many of the colonists respected the Indian’s way of life and were amazed by how they lived. Many attributed their strength to the tobacco that they consumed. Others saw them as savages and wanted to convert them to the European way of life. The colonists ended up waging war with them and killed some Croatoans. White went back to England to request supplies, and when he came back, the colony was abandoned, with evidence that they joined the Croatoans. â€Å"CRO† was written on a tree, a sign that the colonists left to tell him where they had gone. However, they were to carve a cross over the name if they were forced to vacate, but there was no such mark. An entrance post also had the word  "Croatoan† carved into it, also without any crosses. Big items like weapons were left behind, but all smaller supplies were gone. The book uses Professor David Quinn’s theory to explain what happened. The bulk of the colony moved to the Chesapeake Bay and lived in peace while the rest stayed behind to guard the heavier equipment. However, the Spanish threat and Indian hostility forced them to leave. They were the ones who left the notes. Rumors continued to spin when Indians told stories to the people of Jamestown in the Chesapeake Bay about whites living with the Indians. Rap Vs Poetry Essay Research Paper Example For Students

Rap Vs Poetry Essay Research Paper When I first started rapping, me and a couple brothers would all sit around my place freestyling while someone beat boxed. I even used to tell all the girls that I was a poet. They seemed to find it a little more touching than a rapper (Prince Paul, The Source 16) The lyrics of rappers are very similar to the words of Black poets. It is argued as to wether or not rap is a viable form of poetry. Both discuss similar subjects, write in the same style and use the same type of language in their writings. When looking at a poem or reading rap lyrics, distinguishing between the two can be difficult, if not impossible. Both Black rappers and Black poets write about the same subjects. For example the rap group NWA, and the poet Alice Walker, both cover the topic of being from a minority race. Alice Walker states in one of her poems that there is no planet stranger than the one im from (Walker, Note Passed To Superman 18-19). What Alice is saying is that the world is strange because people judge others by their skin color. The approach NWA takes is a more presumptuous one. In the song Fuck Tha Police, NWA says Young nigga got it bad cuz im brown / And not the other color so police think / They have the authority to kill a minority (NWA Fuck Tha Police 3-5). Another common subect between Black poets and rappers is ghetto life. Nikki Giovanis poem called For Saundra is about how she is going to write a poem about trees and blue skies. Then she realized that she was living in a concrete jungle. i wanted to write / a poem / that rhymes / but revolution doesnt lend / itself to bebopping / then my neighbo r / who thinks i hate / asked -do u ever write / tree poems- i like trees / so i thought / ill write a beautiful geen tree poem / peeked from my window / to check the image / noticed the school yard was covered / with asphalt / no green no trees grow / in Manhattan / then, well, i thought the sky / ill do a big blue sky poem / but all the clouds have winged / low since no-Dick was elected / so i thought again / and it occurred to me / maybe i shouldnt write / at all / but clean my gun / and check my kerosene supply (Giovanni For Saundra)What all this is about is simply the reality of the urban ghettos. Gangstarr also writes lyrics pertaining to ghetto life. In the song In Memory Of, Gangstarr talks about life on the streets and how it is always a hard time for a black man trying to get by in society. If we dont build well be destroyed / Thats the challenge we face in this race of poor and unemployed (Gangstarr In Memory Of 11-12). Love and even more specifically, sex, are yet anoth er subject shared by both rappers and Black poets. The lyrics in the song Brown Skin Woman by KRS-1, are discussing the love for the brown woman and also sex with the brown woman. Haki Madhubuti also writes his poems about love and sex. In the poem My Brothers, Haki is sending a message to the other black males about how they should start to love and respect the females of the black race. My brothers i will not tell you who to love or not love i will only say to you that Black women have not been loved enough (Madhubuti My Brothers 1-6). Wether it be about sex, racism or life in the ghettos, Black poets and Black rappers share the same views and write about the same subjects. .uac0a3717618ff404ac1084e742bbb095 , .uac0a3717618ff404ac1084e742bbb095 .postImageUrl , .uac0a3717618ff404ac1084e742bbb095 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .uac0a3717618ff404ac1084e742bbb095 , .uac0a3717618ff404ac1084e742bbb095:hover , .uac0a3717618ff404ac1084e742bbb095:visited , .uac0a3717618ff404ac1084e742bbb095:active { border:0!important; } .uac0a3717618ff404ac1084e742bbb095 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .uac0a3717618ff404ac1084e742bbb095 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .uac0a3717618ff404ac1084e742bbb095:active , .uac0a3717618ff404ac1084e742bbb095:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .uac0a3717618ff404ac1084e742bbb095 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .uac0a3717618ff404ac1084e742bbb095 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .uac0a3717618ff404ac1084e742bbb095 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .uac0a3717618ff404ac1084e742bbb095 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .uac0a3717618ff404ac1084e742bbb095:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .uac0a3717618ff404ac1084e742bbb095 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .uac0a3717618ff404ac1084e742bbb095 .uac0a3717618ff404ac1084e742bbb095-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .uac0a3717618ff404ac1084e742bbb095:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Essay about Othello, By William Shakespeare EssayThe language used by Black rappers and Black poets is a strong, short, to the point language. Maya Angelou demonstrates this in her poem Aint That Bad. In the poem Maya uses a lot of repetition to get her point across. Now aint they bad? / Now aint they black? (Angelou Aint That Bad? 17-18). Theses lines are repeated several times in a row during the poem and again at the end of the poem. The lyrics of NWA banned off most radio stations. The videos banned from MTV. And for what? Telling it like it is? (NWA Live From Compton). NWA has been criticized for having vulgar provocative lyrics that simply tell the truth. In the song Fuck Tha Police, they discuss how white police are always all over them for doing absolutely nothing. NWA then goes on to to say that an even worse situation is the black police showing off for the white cop (NWA Fuck Tha Police 20-21). What they mean by this is that when a black and a white cop are working together, the black one has to try and show up the white cop by going to extremes. This often results in the unnecessary death of black men. The language used by most rappers and now even Black poets, is called ebonics. It is also referred to as ghetto slang. Little shorties sedated thinkin the way out is by sellin crack (Grand Puba Change Gonna Come 11 ). This line by Grand Puba is written in basic ebonics. Simply translated it says; kids are thinking that their only way off the streets is to deal drugs. The language used by Black rappers and Black poets is a language that has a lot of power, strength and emotion behind it. What rap artists and poets have most in common are the ir messages. Their messages are of love, hate, racism, violence and of what our world is going to become unless things are changed. A rap artist by the name of Grand Puba talks in his song, Change Gonna Come, about how we need to change the way we live and the way we treat each other. Now lets deal on the real dont you get sick of this? / The way we hate each other this shits ridiculous / Its time we move on to the next phase / Cause theres too many shorties gettin boxed in a grave (Grand Puba Change Gonna Come 26-29). Translated, these lyrics are saying that we have to change the way we hate each other because it is ending up hurting the children in the long run. Sania Sanchez, a black poet, takes a different approach at getting her message across. She uses a layout in her poems that separate words so that the more important ones get noticed. Give us your hungry/ illiterates/ criminals/ dropouts/ (in other words) your blacks and we will let them fight in Vietnam (Sanchez th e final solution/ the leaders speak 12-18). The message she is sending is about discrimination and racism. The actual poem is about how many Black men were sent to Vietnam to fight for a country that they were not even accepted in. Gangstarrs In Memory Of and Nikki Giovannis For Saundra have a strong message about what is happening in urban cities. As discussed before Nikki Giovanni tells of how what was once a nice place to live is now becoming a concrete jungle. To all my brothers in the streets / I know u feel you have to hustle cause your peeps gotta eat / Makin moves right and exact; dont wanna see you layin flat / Dont wanna see ya catch a bullet black / If we dont build well be destroyed / Thats a challenge we face in the race of poor and unemployed (Gangstarr In Memory Of)This song by Gangstarr is about life on the streets and what one must do to survive on the streets. The messages found in theses rap songs and poems are important messages that must be listened to. They spe ak about what is happening in society and what we have to do to change it or in some cases stop it. .ub7a55d8ddb926c142ef89917510ad5ad , .ub7a55d8ddb926c142ef89917510ad5ad .postImageUrl , .ub7a55d8ddb926c142ef89917510ad5ad .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .ub7a55d8ddb926c142ef89917510ad5ad , .ub7a55d8ddb926c142ef89917510ad5ad:hover , .ub7a55d8ddb926c142ef89917510ad5ad:visited , .ub7a55d8ddb926c142ef89917510ad5ad:active { border:0!important; } .ub7a55d8ddb926c142ef89917510ad5ad .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .ub7a55d8ddb926c142ef89917510ad5ad { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .ub7a55d8ddb926c142ef89917510ad5ad:active , .ub7a55d8ddb926c142ef89917510ad5ad:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .ub7a55d8ddb926c142ef89917510ad5ad .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .ub7a55d8ddb926c142ef89917510ad5ad .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .ub7a55d8ddb926c142ef89917510ad5ad .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .ub7a55d8ddb926c142ef89917510ad5ad .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .ub7a55d8ddb926c142ef89917510ad5ad:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .ub7a55d8ddb926c142ef89917510ad5ad .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .ub7a55d8ddb926c142ef89917510ad5ad .ub7a55d8ddb926c142ef89917510ad5ad-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .ub7a55d8ddb926c142ef89917510ad5ad:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Alexander The Great EssayIn conclusion, the lyrics of rappers are very comparable to the spoken words of Black poets. Blood Brothers The Final Scene Essay Example For Students

Blood Brothers The Final Scene Essay Blood Brothers is a very dramatic and impressive enactment written by Willy Russell. In my essay, I am going to discuss the final scene, in which Mickey charges into the council offices where at the time Edward is delivering his speech. Mickey has the main role in the final scene; he has Edward at gunpoint, as is not at all sure what he is actually doing. Throughout my essay I am going to explore numerous factors which contribute to the success of the production, this will include, stage set, lighting, characterisation, performance, general theatre, the mass recession on the 1970s, I am also going to write about Willy Russell. The main purpose of my essay is to depict good directing skills and present a clear understanding of the play. Willy Russell was born in Whiston, just outside Liverpool, in 1947. Russell didnt enjoy his education and so left school unqualified, he then became a ladies hairdresser. In 1969, Russell returned to education as a mature student. As an adult learner he made excellent use of his new education and took time to look around and explore. Russell wanted to become a pop or folk singer as he thoroughly enjoyed performing. This then encouraged him to write a musical. He had no previous record of writing musicals for the theatre and during his school days, he hadnt shown any interest in music. Years before Blood Brothers, Russell had performed as a singer and a songwriter in clubs and public houses whilst also working during the day. The enactment was well accepted when it was first performed in a secondary school in Fazakerly, a suburb of Liverpool, despite the fact that the school stage lacked special effects such as lighting and surround sound. Just a year later, Russell then turned this minor play into a globally established production. One summer Blood Brothers was shown on Channel Four. After that, in 1988, Bill Ken Wright opened a new west end production of Blood Brothers Russell has produced many other successful productions, which includes Educating Rita, which was commissioned by the Royal Shakespeare Company in 1980, and given Londons SWET award for best comedy. Shirley Valentine was also a nominee in 1988 for the Tony Award and drama Desk Award for best comedy of the year. Both of these films were non-musical. Blood Brothers is the intertwined story of two families, and how their lives contrast due to the era the enactment is set in. Miss Johnstone is from a working class background; she has seven children and twins on the way. The childrens father does not live with the family. During this period men worked and women were usually housewives. This also meant the family had no male protection and the children were not disciplined as well as they should have been. When Miss Johnstones twins are born, she is forced to give one of them away or consequently have one of them taken away by social services. Miss Johnstone works for Mrs Lyons (who is from a wealthy background), cleaning her house. Mrs Lyons is barren. She has always wanted a child of her own, when Mrs Lyons hears about Miss Johnstones dilemma she begs her to give one of her twins away (to Mrs Lyons). Mrs Lyons makes Miss Johnstone swear on the bible that she would give her a child. Miss Johnstone later hands over one of her children. Miss Johnstone thinks she will live a better and more contented life if she moved to Skelmersdale. She has a menial job, and lives on the never, never. She is forever paying bills and thinks a fresh start would be a good move. In contrast, the Lyons are a middle class family with much more money that Miss Johnstone, so could therefore afford to send Edward to a private school. The twin brothers are separated, not knowing about each other and leading very contrasting lives. I am going to perform my enactment in the round, I assume the audience will feel more involved, this also ensures the actors are able to interact with the audience enthusiastically. .uf857492763f80e7507d6d5e1a1e8960c , .uf857492763f80e7507d6d5e1a1e8960c .postImageUrl , .uf857492763f80e7507d6d5e1a1e8960c .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .uf857492763f80e7507d6d5e1a1e8960c , .uf857492763f80e7507d6d5e1a1e8960c:hover , .uf857492763f80e7507d6d5e1a1e8960c:visited , .uf857492763f80e7507d6d5e1a1e8960c:active { border:0!important; } .uf857492763f80e7507d6d5e1a1e8960c .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .uf857492763f80e7507d6d5e1a1e8960c { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .uf857492763f80e7507d6d5e1a1e8960c:active , .uf857492763f80e7507d6d5e1a1e8960c:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .uf857492763f80e7507d6d5e1a1e8960c .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .uf857492763f80e7507d6d5e1a1e8960c .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .uf857492763f80e7507d6d5e1a1e8960c .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .uf857492763f80e7507d6d5e1a1e8960c .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .uf857492763f80e7507d6d5e1a1e8960c:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .uf857492763f80e7507d6d5e1a1e8960c .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .uf857492763f80e7507d6d5e1a1e8960c .uf857492763f80e7507d6d5e1a1e8960c-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .uf857492763f80e7507d6d5e1a1e8960c:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: William Shakespeare, the world's most famous playwright, Romeo and Juliet EssayI feel that if the production was performed in a proscenium theatre the audience would find it difficult to engage in the play, as they are more likely to feel less involved. In the round blocking would occur, this happens when the actors face one section of the audience and would result in the opposite sides view being restricted or blocked. Some of the disadvantages of using a proscenium stage, in my opinion would be that the audience would be seated further away from the actors; I feel that this would make it more difficult for the audience to engage in the production.

Steps taken by the Chinese Communist Party since 1949 to Improve Agriculture essays

Steps taken by the Chinese Communist Party since 1949 to Improve Agriculture essays China's population is about 20% of the world population while it possesses just 7% of the world's arable land. Feeding its people has, therefore, been the country's major concern through much of its history. When the Communist party of China (CPP) came to power in 1949 as a result of the Communist Revolution, the country had been devastated due to years of civil war, foreign interference, social unrest and fragmentation. Its economy was in ruins and the communist party set out to revolutionize all aspects of the Chinese society including the economy. Since Mao-Zedong's brand of Communism was peasant-based rather than urban-based, the Communist Party of China was particularly focused on agricultural reforms and took several measures to improve the agricultural production and the living standards of the peasants. Although these policies have produced mixed results, China is now by and large self-sufficient in food production. In this paper I shall discuss the various policies implemented by the CCP since 1949 in the areas of agriculture and the peasantry and describe the The Peasant Base of CCP Mao Zedong was the undisputed leader of the CPP when it came to power in China in 1949. His version of Communism (Maoism) was somewhat different from the Communism envisaged by Karl Marx in which the urban workers were to be at the vanguard of Communist revolution. China had no industrial base of note and hence no significant urban working-class population. Most of the vast Chinese population were poor, ill-fed peasants who lived in the countryside. It was these peasants who were organized as the Communist power base by Mao Zedong during his long and hard struggle against the military forces of KMT, the Japanese and the "Long March." Mao was himself the son of a peasant farmer and could relate to their deprivations. It was the Chinese peasants that Mao repea...

The Profitability of Advertising on Media Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

The Profitability of Advertising on Media - Essay Example Putting an advert on radio will also depend on the radio station used, time, and the length of the advert. For WHOU FM the prices of putting a 30 seconds advert during the morning hours is 50$ per advert. The price is relatively highly due to the fact that most people in the US usually listen to the radio during the morning hours as they drive or ride to their places of work. Therefore, a company is likely to get more audience during this period of time as opposed to other periods during the day such as mid morning and afternoon (Katz 123). However, it should be noted that the rates get high again during the evening because his is the time when people are riding back to their homes, thus getting a chance of listening to the radio again.Prices of magazines depend on whether on is using a national magazine or local ones. The type of readers also affects the pricing. For a company to put an advert on VOGUE, they will have to pay $250,000 if they want a full-page advert. The price is hig h because of the fact that VOGUE is a national magazine. Furthermore, VOGUE is a women’s fashion magazine meaning that many women are likely to read it. However, the type of product or service being advertised will highly determine whether advertising on this magazine will be worth the cost. This is because this magazine will only be read by women who are interested in knowing what things are happening in the world of fashion (Peitz and Valletti 952). An automobile advert might be out of place for this magazine.

Collaboration and Argument Essay Example for Free

Collaboration and Argument Essay Boothe Collaboration and Argument Collaboration is defined as working collectively with others or concurrently to achieve a goal especially in a creative attempt to put together the right elements of success implemented to accomplish something. Argument is defined as controversy or the implication of expression through opinions for an effort to persuade; for the submission that provides support or is in contrast to some idea. Robert Ennis defines an argument as an attempt to support a conclusion by giving reasons for it. (Critical Thinking, 1995) Irving M. Copi, in his Introduction to Logic, defines an argument as a group of propositions of which one, the conclusion, is claimed to follow from the others, which are premises. Collaboration changes the research process because it is a group ideal instead of an individual ideal. Collaboration gives each individual on the team the ability to share creative and innovative thoughts and interact with others by sharing ideas through critical thinking, preparation and work practice with individuals in defined areas which provide an opportunity for each team member to strive for higher standards within the group. Collaboration can be an incentive for the better-prepared students to provide assistance and encourage the members of the team who are most likely not going to meet the goal, and the less-prepared students are likely to work harder so as not to disappoint the other team members. By having a team leader it shares the accountability for student success through frequent use of collaboration as an approach to improving instruction for an effective use of common planning time. Collaboration encourages diversity with a social support system in a more personal environment that will aid in the development of skills, time management and problem solving that can be used on the job and beyond. Collaboration can actually make it easier and harder when having to evaluate sources. The goal is find a way to get knowledgably team members to be productive an establish a formal process to perform work, develop distinct purpose, and assist in the process of better connections among team members. As a group you have to think as a group with one ideal and be able to comprehend and engage structure collaboration process while maintaining a strong affiliation among teammates. Provided that a time line has been created the work load should be evenly distributed for all of the team members and information should be shared willingly. Communication is very important so that all members can equally speak whether positively or negatively about the topic as well as listening to all of the group members. By analyzing different types of collaborative tasks each member can interoperate what is relevant by their own learning skills, strategies and personal experiences that would encourage conversation within the group that provides feedback and encourages questions, negotiations and open mindedness with the differences of each person’s creative and innovative ideals which will generate a good argument. In order for a group to produce their ethos for a team paper it is important that each member knows the definition of an ethos. Ethos, or a reputable position, is a matter of gaining the confidence of the audience by either the character or the author. Respect and trust are both valuable traits that are needed from your audience therefore giving you the authority on your topic so that the group is able to persuade their audience that their ideas are credible, or more credible than someone elses. The ethos for a team paper is produced as a group within the quality of the produced product. With the blended combination and disposition of the group they must be believable or convincing and be able to characterize the differences between fact and opinion based on sound logic and solid evidence that encourages trustworthiness or credibility prototypes within the group and while persuading your audience. Papers that are written collaboratively are created in a different form then papers that are written by an individual due to the fact that collaboration means to work with another or others on a joint project while individual means working independently. Collaborative writing refers to organizing and the planning of shared written documents during the process of team building. As a team you also have more members that can get the job done faster and even sometimes better. Collaboratively written papers start with preliminary discussions of an ideal then on to brainstorming as input is divided into sections so that participation can be achieved by each team member with open channels of communication within the allotted time line so that the assignment can be assessed by the group to provide the final draft. The independent working individually creates their papers differently by doing all of the work on their own with full control of their time limits, methods, process and style. They are responsible for their own argument. The downside is that they are not able to collaborate and get ideals from others and time restraints can be a factor on large tasks and when something becomes too difficult to handle there is no one to assist you. Collaboratively and individually arguments are written differently on the account of facts and opinions that are researched as a group and the individual argument is researched solely by the individual. The members of the group decide on which activities are to be completed as a group and which one should be completed by individual group members. Deliberation improves critical thinking by providing a constant consideration and synthesis of other viewpoints. These issues become the argument for the group. With respect for the other team members opinions will continue to simultaneously push the boundaries of the other team members’ experiences which will create a new mode of thinking, analyzing, criteria and judgment that often reveals new and unique approaches. Team members benefit from reflection and by verbalization. The peer coaching helps all the members, both the high and the low achievers, to become actively involved with the material. When it comes to independent study there is no one else that can incorporate other viewpoints into their own opinions nor or they able to incorporate communication or listening skills, but they are able to avoid conflicts enhance their own effectiveness and efficiency. When writing collaboratively, an argument that is determined by one’s own position should be decided by which side of the issue they are willing to take on or if they are prepared for both sides by matching up each team member’s ability and talent no matter what their strengths or weakness may be. When determining the fundamental quality of an argument it gives the team member the ability to understand the arguments of others and evaluate the quality arguments used to improve their skills. The person who represents knowledgeable information is factual and some team members may have difficulty evaluating arguments on the basis of their quality. By explaining skills that are important to overall argument and by the use of an evaluation the team may show an increased performance by the immediate feedback. By giving the team members the tools to evaluate the production of their own individual work could enhance their ability to find their position. It is also important that the individual who has his own argument is being respectful and open minded so that the team member has the ability to persuade and influence others on similar subjects and while gaining additional information from their team. When a team member supports an argument that they find not to be creditable the reason for that could be the disagreement of opposing viewpoints due to the lack of interest in the topic or a similar subject in which the member is not convinced of the views causing the team member to reject information that is incorrect or irrelevant. In order to avoid conflict within the team, the team member suspends judgment and avoids new solutions that may hinder statements that are not supported by research that could weaken the final paper. Individuals often have a strong emotional connection to the positions they argue in essays because of the all of the challenging research work that they have done to find credible resources. The individual could educate the other team members about their own experiences of encouragement, awareness and understanding of the argument. Depending on the position of each member f the team the discussion of the topic may not all be shared by the same similarly intense connection therefore the role of the team should be a peer review that encourages and contains constructive criticism; this method is used to improve one’s project and not to shoot down anyone’s work. Two common peer review methods are the inspection method and the walk-through method. Work is heavily analyzed throug h the inspection method. As each individual puts in their input and guides the conversation. Each peer then provides comments to help improve the quality of work. Constructive and respectful criticism provides useful feedback even though the team member may show strong emotion on the argument. The best methods of peer review used for evaluating the quality of an argument in a paper is more of a conversation designed to give constructive criticism through discussion and communications. Using groups to give feedback to other group members on specific questions about their own papers that they would like reviewed. Members are encouraged to write down questions at the beginning of the peer review and ask peers to take these questions into consideration while writing their review. This is feedback encourages students to have their work analyzed through questions and deliberations of their own. Advanced peer reviews encourage paper writing as a mode of conducting peer reviews. Self-Evaluations is the assessing one’s own work. When writing collaboratively, the best processes for making sure sections of a project written by different team members are logically consistent is to make sure that the directions are clear, uncomplicated and easy to understand in order to be rational. Write a short introductory paragraph that would introduce the reader to the topic and explain what it is and how it should affect people and also provide a brief history of the issue. The process for evaluating a team paper for plagiarism differs from the process of evaluating ones work is that group writing represents an exclusive challenge because each person has their own different passions, opinions and backgrounds towards writing. Whether the members of the team are not able to make the time lines and strive for the easiest route or intentional or unintentional copy an author’s work the team’s work could suffer. The team should be educated about plagiarism either by self detection or software programs. The team writing process that would produce the strongest arguments would be an argumentative paper that argues for a particular side that has opposing information or opinions that are debatable issues. In order to be most persuasive, understand both sides of the issue by having at least three reasons that support your point of view and two reasons that support the opposing viewpoint and it is important that the paper has a strong thesis statement and strong support for the position. Counter argument for why they are not valid reasons. The topics that are selected for individual argument papers differ from those chosen for team papers because a decision is made within the group on which person will do what work as an individual, but other factors should be considered such as time and how well the assignment can be completed. All team members have a vested interest in understanding the appropriate response. Conclusion Today’s research and teaching is no longer performed independently or in seclusion. Research and teaching shows that both collaboration and argument work hand and hand and can benefit others and help to address problems when we work in collaboration with those whom we research with. Collaboration provides specific guidelines that help all diverse backgrounds come together with ideals and experiences for solutions and understanding and that argument assists in providing the best reasoning to distinguish between facts and opinions through detailed observation.
